چکیده
The Korean government has strived to secure a disposal site for the safe management of radioactive waste since the early 1980s. The 249 th meeting of the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) held in September 1998 established the “National Radioactive Waste Management Policy”, which aims at completing the construction of a Low and Intermediate Level Radioactive Waste (LILW) disposal facility by 2008, and a centralized spent fuel interim-storage facility by 2016; site selection was not successful, however. Therefore, a revision of the policy was made at the 253 rd AEC meeting held on December 17, 2004, stipulating the completion of the construction of the LILW disposal facility by 2008. Nonetheless, the national policy for spent fuel management including the construction of the centralized spent fuel interim-storage facility is to be decided in a timely manner based upon the national consensus through public consultation among stakeholders. A summary of the national policy statements includes the following:

Research activities in safety regulation of radioactive waste management are presented. Major activities are as follows. As for the geological disposal, major research areas are, developing “safety indicators” to judge the adequacy of site investigation results presented by an implementer (NUMO), compiling basic requirements of safety design and safety assessment needed to make a safety review ...

ago, led to the reduction in habitat and the extinction or restriction of several species of beetles. Much later in the midnineteenth century, the arrival of Europeans and their cultivation practices modified the insect fauna of the American Midwest so profoundly that the event is as detectable in the fossil record as any ice age climate change. The lesson from the fossil record of insects is t...
متن کاملDevelopment of an Environmental Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) Protocol for Flexible Pavements that Integrates Life-Cycle Components to a Proprietary Software
Significant progress has been made in research on environmental life-cycle assessment (LCA) of pavements. Use of this new knowledge has been slowed by a lack of standardized datasets and analysis protocols. Several software packages have been developed to address this by providing datasets with broader coverage and better quality, but practitioners need applicationspecific data input interfaces...
